Bernard O'Riordan, Media Trainer
Bernard O’Riordan’s heavy duty journalism career, spanning more than 20 years in international business media, gives him the insights, confidence and credibility to equip participants to handle even the toughest media interview.
In Australia, Bernard cut his teeth on The Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph and with Australian Associated Press (AAP). He then moved to The Australian Financial Review, where he covered a range of beats during his seven-year stint.
Moving to the UK, he worked as a business reporter on London’s Evening Standard, providing market-moving copy for five editions throughout the day. Later he became a correspondent for The Guardian and Observer newspapers.
Bernard is highly skilled in all areas of reporting – general news, business, politics, sport and feature writing – and has a natural news sense and intimate understanding of how newsrooms work and what motivates journalists. These skills as a journalist translate well to his career as a specialist media trainer. He takes complex, abstract and technical subjects and makes them interesting and relevant to any audience.
Bernard specialises in training financial and professional services clients including Macquarie Bank, UBS, Westpac, Freehills, Ernst & Young and many others.
As well as being an accredited Clarity trainer, Bernard has internationally-recognised qualifications in adult learning, including the most up to date workplace training qualification.
